● About

Where learning runs amok

In our ranch-style home in Boise, ID, kids 1st grade and up choose a nook, settle in, and learn from someone new. At Nookhouse, we believe parents are the best teachers for their children. But sometimes, another voice is just what homeschool kids need to guide them.

We currently offer history, geography, unit studies, cursive, group projects, presentations, and more, all with a strong emphasis on writing practice. Within this multi-age environment, students gain confidence, deepen relationships, and strengthen their autonomy over their learning.

Reviews

“Nookhouse has been such a great addition to our homeschool routine! It gives me, the mom, a chance to catch up on chores and time well spent with my littles, while my older kids are enjoying learning in a familiar environment by a new face! They love the chance to be with other kids and their favorite thing is to watercolor over their writings to make it special! They’ve been able to teach me so much about Africa, their unit study! We love Nookhouse!”

“We love everything about the Nookhouse program. Hannah has created such a warm and welcoming environment for our daughters to develop a deeper love of learning and inspired our girls to care more about the quality of their work. Our 4th grader is writing longer essays than she did just at home and has grown in confidence as a writer. Our 1st grader loves spending time with a mixed age group and is so proud to show what she has created each week.  This last week she was so proud to show her neater handwriting after being encouraged by the group.  Getting some group time with peers each week under a wonderful teacher’s guidance has enriched our homeschooling as well as giving us parents a chance for some down time or to catch up on our own projects. We highly recommend trying Nookhouse to see if it's a good fit for your family!”

NookHouse saved our 2nd year of homeschool! I truly mean it when I say that. My daughter is in 2nd grade and my son just started Kindergarten. During the transition of adding another kid to educate daily I had our third daughter and really mixed things up. I felt that my oldest needed more from me and I wasn’t able to completely give her that at this season of life. Which lead us to tour charter schools and nearly give up on homeschooling all together. I am so grateful for Nook house, just one day a week has helped our family immensely and has become her favorite day of the week. Her writing skills have improved just in the past couple of months working with Mrs. Hannah. Hannah makes sure her home is calm and cozy in the morning and bursting with laughter, good music and joyful energy by pick up time. BONUS for this Mom is 4 hours of time I get with my littles just being little and a weight is lifted knowing my daughter is building strong bonds with friends and learning from a woman who has become a mentor to her.
